The Taliban seems to have settled on a deadly new strategy: A suicide bomber who infiltrated the military killed five NATO troops today, four Afghan soldiers, and an interpreter, reports the AP. It's not clear yet if any of the NATO victims were Americans. The bomber, apparently a recruit in the Afghan national army, walked into a meeting at a military base in eastern Afghanistan and detonated his bomb.

It's the latest in a string of similar attacks, notes the Wall Street Journal. An Afghan border policeman killed two US soldiers in the north earlier this month, and a suicide bomber in an Afghan police uniform killed a police chief in Kandahar only yesterday. Last fall, an Afghan border policeman killed six American soldiers. The Taliban has claimed resonsibility for them all, including today's. “We had recruited this man one month ago, and he was serving as an Afghan soldier for the last month,” said a spokesman, according to the New York Times.
