A top Fatah official was kidnapped by 30 gunmen of rival Palestinian faction Hamas, who ransacked his family home in Gaza early this morning and accused him of collaborating with Israel. Omar Al-Ghoul, adviser to the Palestinian prime minister appointed after Hamas seized control of the Strip, was in Gaza for his mother-in-law's funeral.

Also today, three people were killed and 30 mourners injured when an explosion rocked a Gaza funeral procession. The funeral was being held for three militants killed in an Israeli strike; the explosion might have been accidental, as ritual gunfire is typical of Gaza funerals. In yet more trouble in Gaza, yesterday an attempted kidnapping of another Fatah official failed. (More Fatah stories.)
