Jessica Korda isn't exactly clinging to the old adage about dancing with the one who brought you: The golfer started yesterday's US Women's Open with caddie Jason Gilroyed, but right after the ninth hole it was boyfriend Johnny DelPreti who was schlepping her clubs, reports Yahoo's Devil Ball Golf blog. Korda and Gilroyed apparently weren't seeing eye to eye on the front nine, leading Korda to fire Gilroyed on the spot, saying, "Johnny, grab the bag, let's go." The strategy worked at least a bit: Korda improved from 40 on the front nine to 36 on the back, and is sitting in sixth place. "I care about Jason a lot. He is a great guy,'' Korda said later. "That was one of those things today that it just unfolded. It was very hard for me to do. I'm not that type of person to take these things really easily." Of DelPreti, she said, "He was telling me, 'Put me in, coach, put me in.'" (More Jessica Korda stories.)
