"Mature" women sitting on gold mines are being paired up with hot young men at a New York matchmaking event next week, Reuters reports. Traditionally, rich middle-aged men nab catwalk-worthy arm candy, but one entrepreneur hopes to tweak the trend. The "sugar mamas" must be at least 36 and make a minimum $500,000 a year—though $4 million in assets also meets requirements.

Natural selection also applies in the 5,000-strong pool of would-be "boy toys." The event will involve a round of speed-dating, in which potential couples are paired up for a few minutes in the hopes that sparks will fly. "Is it truly what I am looking for? No. Is it an option? Why not? In New York, anything goes," one female participant said. (More matchmaking stories.)
