A math teacher at a Catholic high school in Minnesota is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, and the police complaint suggests that she might be pregnant with his child. Mary Gilles, 28, faces six counts of sexual misconduct after admitting to detectives that she began having sex with the teen in February, reports KIMT-TV. Acting on a tip from a school staffer, an administrator at Pacelli High School in Austin looked in the personal email account of the student (she learned his password after first probing his school email account for information, but it's not clear exactly how she found it) and found racy messages between the two, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The last few messages referred to Gilles "possibly being pregnant," says the criminal complaint. Both she and the student acknowledged the relationship upon questioning. The boy would regularly visit the teacher in her rural home, say authorities. Gilles was arrested Monday, fired Tuesday, and remains jailed in lieu of $60,000 bail. A school staffer claims to have seen her and the student alone in the school auditorium as recently as Friday night, which led to the investigation.
