10 Senate Seats Likely to Flip

The presidency isn’t the only job up for grabs this November. The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza runs down (in order) the Senate seats most likely to flip parties:

  1. Ex-Virginia governor Mark Warner (D) is mounting a “sure-thing bid.”
  2. The survivor of the New Mexico GOP primary will likely fall to Rep. Tom Udall (D).
  3. Ex-NH governor Jeanne Shaheen (D) leads incumbent John Sununu by 18 points.

  1. The Colorado GOP faces an “up hill fight” against Rep. Mark Udall.
  2. Treasurer John Kennedy (R) may best vulnerable Mary Landrieu in Louisana.
  3. In Minnesota, Al Franken (D) is a good bet vs. incumbent Norm Coleman.
  4. Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich has a bead on beleaguered Ted Stevens (R).
  5. Rep. Tom Allen (D) has a shot at unseating moderate Susan Collins of Maine.
  6. Rep. Jeff Merkley (D) of Oregon is no sure thing vs. incumbent Gordon Smith.
  7. Businessman Bruce Lunsford (D) is powerful, but Kentucky's Mitch McConnell is no slouch.
