The cost of a selfie.   (Maine State Police)

Add this to the looong list of ill-advised selfies: Maine police say Hampden native Jordan Toner, 29, was driving in Orient on Saturday when he decided to snap a selfie with his seven passengers. But when he leaned over to take the photo with his cellphone, his car veered off the road and slammed into a tree, injuring several passengers, including two women who were riding in the front seat without seat belts, police tell NECN.

One of the women suffered a broken nose, while the other incurred injuries to her neck and possibly her back; both were taken to a hospital. Two male passengers also suffered cuts near their eyes and back, reports WCSH. The passengers—three of whom share Toner's last name—were all aged 28 to 35. Toner is now due in court for "failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle due to being distracted," per CBS Boston. (More selfie stories.)
