An agency in France says an Islamic State fighter may have illegally entered the country. And that's just one of 50 suspected ISIS fighters believed to have landed in Italy in an attempt to reach the rest of Europe, according to an Interpol list obtained by the Guardian. Interpol sent the list to the Italian interior ministry in November, and it was distributed from there to anti-terror agencies around Europe. A European counter-terrorism officer says all 50 suspected ISIS fighters are believed to have arrived in Sicily between July and October aboard fishing boats or other small vessels.

The Agrigento coast of Sicily is a popular landing spot for Tunisians, many of them economic migrants. All 50 individuals on the Interpol list are Tunisians. "If you are a terrorist, illegally landing in Agrigento is the safest way to get to Europe," a local prosecutor says. Local authorities believe over 3,000 Tunisians have landed on the coast since July; only 400 have been stopped and identified. Read the full story here. (More Islamic State stories.)
