• Investigations: Trump derided "ridiculous partisan investigations," saying only they and "foolish wars" can stop the "economic miracle" in the US. "If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation," he said. "It just doesn't work that way."
• The wall: “In the past, most of the people in this room voted for a wall, but the proper wall never got built. I will get it built."
• Immigration: "Tolerance for illegal immigration is not compassionate; it is cruel." He also said that "we have a moral duty to create an immigration system that protects the lives and jobs of our citizens."
• Unity: "Together, we can break decades of political stalemate. We can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions, and unlock the extraordinary promise of America’s future." Early in the speech, Trump declared that "victory is not winning for our party. Victory is winning for our country."
