Bloggers, who normally revel in afflicting TV news anchors, have made one a star. MSNBC newsreader Mika Brzezinski won legions of fans in the blogosphere when she refused, despite prodding from her co-hosts, to read a news item about Paris Hilton Wednesday morning, and then shredded the script. “I have a new hero, and her name is Mika Brzezinski,” one blogger wrote.

The brouhaha has drawn the attention of  the Guardian, which notes that both the overexposed Hilton and the little-known Brzezinski are blonde, telegenic and the daughters of influential fathers. Some have suggested that Brzezinski’s antics were staged; they  certainly expressed annoyance widely felt over the saturation coverage of Hilton. (More blogger stories.)
