Apple gains on iPad, boosts Nasdaq

Stocks pulled up from losses after the Fed's rate committee issued a slightly more optimistic view of the economy and said it would leave rates near zero, the Wall Street Journal reports.

  • The Dow rose 42 points to close at 10,236.
  • The Nasdaq added 18 points, settling at 2,221.
  • The S&P 500 gained 5 points, closing at 1,098.
