(AP Photo/The National Enquirer) John Edwards' political career is dead but the federal probe into whether he used campaign funds to keep his mistress quiet has shown public signs of life for the first time in more than a year. Federal prosecutors have issued a fresh round of subpoenas for witnesses to appear before a grand jury that is deciding whether to charge the disgraced former presidential candidate with using cash from political donors to provide a "love nest" for mistress Rielle Hunter. Edwards will be charged with a crime and could face trial if the grand jury decides to indict him. His attorney declined to discuss details of the fresh subpoenas, but said Edwards' hasn't violated any law. "We want them to look as carefully as they wish," he said. Justice Department officials have instructed investigators to keep looking into the case and find out exactly who donated to the Edwards campaign, sources tell ABC.
