Fox News chief Roger Ailes says his network isn't presenting skewed coverage of President Obama, it's just reflecting the reality that he's a lousy president. Obama "has not been very successful," he tells Howard Kurtz of the Daily Beast. "He had to be told by the French and the Germans that his socialism was too far left for them to deal with.” Which leads to his most stinging criticism in the interview: “He just has a different belief system than most Americans.”

On other topics:

  • He defends Glenn Beck as "intelligent and basically sensitive," but adds: “He and I have had conversations and lunches where I say, ‘What the hell are you doing, man?’"
  • Says he was surprised by boss Rupert Murdoch's big donation to the GOP but says the man has earned the right as the "biggest media mogul in the world" to spend his money how he likes.
