The Kansas City Royals pulled the trigger on a deal to send Zack Greinke to the Brewers today, in exchange for Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, pitching prospect Jake Odorizzi, and another minor leaguer, most likely pitcher Jeremy Jeffress. Milwaukee also picked up shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt from the Royals as part of the deal, ESPN reports.

Odorizzi was considered perhaps the top prospect in the Brewers’ organization, and his agent said the team had tried to keep him out of the deal. “You know what? It’s a nice compliment,” he said. The Brewers, meanwhile, were ecstatic. “We are getting better with [Shaun] Marcum, now Greinke,” Corey Hart said in a text message to the AP. “Brewers are for real!” (More Kansas City Royals stories.)
