Obama: Good for Eagles for Taking Vick

Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie got some pretty high praise the other day for taking a chance on Michael Vick: None other than President Obama called to thank him. "He said, 'So many people who serve time never get a fair second chance,'" Lurie tells the Washington Post. "He was passionate about it. He said it's never a level playing field for prisoners when they get out of jail," so Obama was glad to see an example on a national level.

Besides that, Lurie said he and the president talked football, like any two fans. "He's a real football fan,'' Lurie said. "He loves his Bears. He really follows it. He knew how Michael was doing. It was really interesting to hear.'' The Eagles are also installing wind turbines and solar panels that will power a third of their stadium's needs; Obama, says Lurie, "raved about us being the first to put a plan like this in place.''
