Discovery Channel will deepen its involvement with the supernatural in a new series called the Exorcist Files—with the unusual twist that the Vatican is helping out, Entertainment Weekly reports. The network will recreate investigations of demonic possessions and hauntings conducted by the Catholic Church, which is opening its files and allowing its exorcists to be interviewed.

"We explained we’re not going to try to tell people what to think," says Discovery's president. "The work these folks do, and their conviction in their beliefs, make for fascinating stories." If all goes well, the network would eventually tag along with Vatican investigators on live cases. The series is expected to debut in the spring.
