James Frey to Oprah: That Interview Was a 'Car Crash'

Oprah Winfrey is using two of The Oprah Winfrey Show's final eight episodes to revisit what she says is the biggest controversy of the show's 25-year history. Author James Frey was back on the show yesterday, five years after Oprah gave him a very public dressing-down for having invented large parts of his "memoir"—and Oprah's book club pick—A Million Little Pieces, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The author told Oprah that if he had another chance, he would have been honest about promoting the book. Frey—who admitted that he had never seen the interview in which he was publicly shamed—described the earlier episode as a "personal car crash." He said he felt like he had been ambushed, but that he would probably have appeared even if he knew what he was walking into. The second part of the Frey interview airs today.
