If it weren’t for that pesky electronic bracelet, Dominique Strauss-Kahn would be living the good life: The Tribeca townhouse he just moved into has its own theater, gym, and spa, sources tell the Guardian. The former IMF boss landed at the 6,800-square-foot red brick house yesterday after a stint at Rikers Island followed by a brief period in a building near Wall Street. His new digs are about a mile from the financial district, and near the courthouse where he will attend hearings on his sexual assault case. The New York Post prices the rental at $50,000 a month; the Guardian reports that the entire arrangement will set him back an estimated $200,000 monthly.
Under the terms of his house arrest, Strauss-Kahn will be monitored via a camera and armed guards as well as the aforementioned bracelet. He can leave the house only for court, doctor’s visits, and religious services (meaning dinners at nearby Nobu are a no-go), although he must remain inside between 10pm and 6am and notify prosecutors at least six hours before he leaves. He can receive up to four visitors, other than members of his family, at once. His lawyer told reporters Strauss-Kahn was “doing fine,” although there’s “not much he can do.” (More Dominique Strauss Kahn stories.)
