ACLU, Gawker to Drop Suit Vs. Christie, Ailes

New Jersey's ACLU says it will likely drop a lawsuit filed earlier today against New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie after Christie's office released records that seemingly indicate that he met with Fox News chief Roger Ailes last year. The ACLU filed the lawsuit on behalf of a Gawker Entertainment reporter, John Cook, saying the governor's office had issued a blanket refusal to release any records pertaining to the meeting, citing "executive privilege."

The record shows that Christie and his wife attended a private dinner in New York City in September 2010, though the specific location is redacted. "Please be advised that this office is in possession of no other records responsive to your request," wrote a lawyer for Christie. "We're happy to see the matter resolved quickly but remain concerned that the governor's office initially issued a blanket executive privilege claim in response to Gawker's request for records," said ACLU-NJ president Frank Corrado.
