Jon Huntsman may be languishing in the polls, but his newly released plan to overhaul the tax code and shrink the government is winning high praise from an influential voice—the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal. His "proposal is as impressive as any to date in the GOP presidential field, and certainly better than what we've seen from the front-runners," the editors write.
"Perhaps Mr. Huntsman should be asked to give the Republican response to the president's jobs speech next week," they add. "The two views of what makes an economy grow could not be more different." Among other things, Huntsman wants to scrap ObamaCare, cut the number of personal income tax rates to three (8%, 14%, and 23%), and eliminate deductions and credits. Romney unveils his own economic plan Tuesday, two days ahead of President Obama. (More Jon Huntsman 2012 stories.)
