Steve Mahan is legally blind, but he managed a relatively nifty feat thanks to Google's self-driving car: He drove himself to the dry cleaners and to Taco Bell, reports the Los Angeles Times. Some Google folks were in the Prius with him the whole time, and the company says the route near San Jose was planned with local police. "Look, Ma, no hands," Mahan says at one point in the drive.

The self-driving car, introduced in 2010, is still very much in the test stages, "but we’ve now safely completed more than 200,000 miles of computer-led driving, gathering great experiences and an overwhelming number of enthusiastic supporters," says a Google post. Nevada, for one, can't wait for the real thing. (More Google stories.)
