Miami survives Big Al's monster night, avoids embarrassing loss

The Miami Heat won the match-up of the two worst teams in their respective conferences, beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 91-87. The 2006 NBA champs came into the game at 6-17, including a miserable 2-8 mark at home, which was still significantly better than a woeful Minnesota club that fell to 3-20 with the loss, according to the AP.

Minnesota led for most of the second half but surrendered the lead with less than four minutes left in the game. Dwyane Wade shot only 6-of-22 but scored 14 of his game-high 30 points in the fourth quarter. Al Jefferson led the way for the Timberwolves, recording his 17th double-double of the season by scoring 22 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. (More basketball stories.)
