An Iowa animal lover says he was just enjoying the wild life with his pets. But police say he was drunk and shouldn't have been tooling around with his zebra and a macaw. Jerald Reiter, 55, walked into a Dubuque bar to refuel with his unusual buddies, but the animals were ordered out by the barkeep, reports the Gazette. Police stopped the trio down the road soon after, and Reiter registered a .148 blood alcohol level as the animals looked on from the front seat, according to cops. Reiter told investigators his animals like to hang with him. “They love going for rides. They’re part of the family,” his girlfriend told KCRG-TV. (More drunk driving stories.)
