San Francisco Official Turns to Ouija Board Before Vote

This probably falls under the only-in-San-Francisco department: A city supervisor says he consulted a Ouija board before voting on a measure to honor slain gay rights activist Harvey Milk, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. What's more, John Avalos swears Milk responded and guided him through the message, "Good Riddance DADT," as in Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

"We asked Harvey, and Harvey gave us these letters," says Avalos. As a result, he voted in favor of a resolution urging the Navy to name a ship after Milk, who served as a naval officer in the Korean War. The measure passed, with one opponent arguing that Milk wouldn't want his name linked to a military ship. (More Ouija Board stories.)
