Cops: Seattle Shooter Bought Plant During Manhunt

After two shootings that left five people dead in Seattle last week, accused shooter Ian Stawicki spent five hours on the run before killing himself when police tracked him down. What did he do in the interim? He apparently went to a local nursery and bought a blueberry bush for a former teacher he hadn't spoken to in years, according to police. He even delivered the bush to her door, with a "creepy note," reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

"We got the phone call the next morning of the recipient of the blueberry," says the nursery manager. "She was freaked out." The teacher issued a statement saying she had "not had contact with Ian Stawicki since he was in my Summit K-12 School classroom almost 25 years ago." Stawicki's family members say his mental health had been steadily deteriorating in recent years. (More Seattle stories.)
