A live TV debate between a Jordanian lawmaker and a guerrilla-turned-activist deteriorated into a loud volley of accusations ... then the MP whipped out a pistol. And shoe-throwing was involved! A court is considering charges against Mohammed Shawabka after the not-so-diplomatic incident. "He was going to shoot me and he should be punished for that," says Mansour Seif-Eddine Murad.

Here's how the course of events played out on Thursday night: Shawabka called Murad a "spy" for Assad; Murad then called Shawabka a "Mossad agent" and "mafia thief." After throwing his shoe at Murad, who hid under a table that then tipped over, Shawabka pulled out the gun, a silver pistol that was tucked into his waistband, the AP reports. "I couldn't believe my eyes," said the talk-show host, who kept trying in vain to calm the two down. "It was like the Wild West, but we needed horses in the studio." (More Jordan stories.)
