US | DNA evidence Murder Case DNA Not From Occupy Protester Both NYC samples traced to lab worker By Rob Quinn Posted Jul 12, 2012 12:34 AM CDT Copied Drama student Sarah Fox, 21, was found strangled in New York's Inwood Hill Park in 2004. (AP Photo/New York Police Department, File) The only link between the Occupy Wall Street protests and the unsolved 2004 murder of a New York City student now appears to be sloppy lab work. Matching DNA samples were found on a CD player belonging to 21-year-old Sarah Fox and on a chain used to hold a subway gate open during a protest earlier this year, but investigators have now determined that both samples came from a lab worker who dealt with both cases, an official tells the AP. An Occupy spokesman says activists feel smeared by the haste in linking the cases. "The last day has been very disturbing," the spokesman says. "Let's hope the investigation into Sarah Fox's death proceeds with more care than the DNA testing and that Occupy Wall Street can get back to fighting for economic justice and against Wall Street greed."
