Crime | Dark Knight massacre Holmes Spitting at Guards, Forced to Wear Mouth Shield Plus, judge bars cameras from courtroom By Mark Russell Posted Jul 25, 2012 3:25 AM CDT Updated Jul 25, 2012 7:05 AM CDT Copied Orange-haired James Holmes appears in court this week. (AP Photo/Denver Post, RJ Sangosti, Pool, File) The odd behavior by the alleged Dark Knight shooter keeps getting loopier. Now James Holmes is spitting at guards so much that they're forcing him to wear a mouth shield when they take him from his cell, reports ABC News. Holmes' spacy appearance in court and telling the police he was the Joker could be signs that Holmes is having a psychotic episode—or that he's faking, say psychologists. Holmes' odd behavior in court this week won't be repeated next time—at least not on camera. A judge has barred all cameras and recording equipment in the courtroom when Holmes is formally charged next week, reports USA Today. In other developments in the case, two witnesses have told CBS News that Holmes shouted at victims as he allegedly fired in the Aurora theater last week. "I see him up there, and I'm hearing him yell at people, and then you just hear the rounds going off: Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!" said survivor Stephanie Davies. "He would shout, 'What are you doing? I said stand up!' And he would pick people up. I saw him stand over someone. I just see hair and him holding the shirt and—boom."
