(AP Photo/Eric Gay) (Associated Press) Penn State fell behind early to Texas A&M, 14-0, but didn't abandon the running game. It's a good thing they didn't because they ended up with 270 yards on the ground and a 24-17 Alamo Bowl victory, reports the Houston Chronicle. The Aggies put up a strong game with defensive coordinator Gary Darnell acting as head coach after Dennis Franchione resigned. Joe Paterno got his 23rd bowl victory in his 500th career game coached thanks to Rodney Kinlaw's 143 yards rushing. "We just kept pressing and the offense came around," said Kinlaw, who was named the game's offensive MVP. The Nittany Lions' defense also made a huge stop on their own two-yard line midway through the fourth. Mike Goodson scored twice for A&M.
