Want more evidence that the price of college is exploding? Well this year, 151 schools will cost more than $50,000 a year, including tuition, fees, room and board, CNN reports, based on numbers from the College Board and Chronicle of Higher Education. That's up from 123 last year and just 58 three years ago.
Sarah Lawrence even busted out of the $50,000 bracket, charging a sticker shock-inducing $61,236, after raising costs by 3.5%. Nor were the top dollar schools alone; among the more than 3,000 schools the College Board tracks, more than half increased costs. (More college tuition stories.)
