Former Thailand PM Abhisit Vejjajiva and his deputy will face murder charges for their roles in the 2010 crackdown against anti-government uprisings that left more than 90 dead and 1,800 injured, reports the AP. Investigators says Abhisit is possibly culpable in the death of a taxi driver because he allowed troops to use war weapons and live ammunition against protesters.

Abhisit and his Democratic Party lost elections last year, which saw the "red shirt" Pheu Thai Party return to power after a five-year absence. The two parties have traded accusations of blame for the bloody uprisings over the past two years. A Democratic Party spokesman called the charges "an abuse of government's power to threaten its opponents." He noted that it was done while parliament is in recess so the two men's immunity from arrest is lifted. (More Abhisit Vejjajiva stories.)
