The University of Chicago has cracked its Indiana Jones mystery—and it involves an international route that wouldn't have been out of place in a Jones movie. The copy of Jones mentor Abner Ravenwood's journal that turned up in a weatherbeaten envelope was the misplaced creation of an eBay seller who makes replica props, the university's admissions office explains on its Tumblr.
The journal had apparently fallen out of its package in Hawaii while en route to Italy from the seller's home in Guam, and a postal worker, believing the fake Egyptian stamps were real, added the zip code to send it to "Henry Walton Jones, Jr." at the university. The seller has told the university it can keep the replica, which it will display in its Oriental Institute. (More Indiana Jones stories.)
