Little embarrassing: The national luge team has lost its working supply of training sleds and needs the Pennsylvania State Police to help find them, the Express-Times reports. Gordy Sheer, a director of the US Luge Association, says he failed to latch their U-Haul truck properly in the pouring rain—and when the team arrived in Lehigh Valley today, the five sleds were all gone. So the hunt began.
Sheer started at a house near where the $500 sleds fell off. "This is going to sound completely out of left field, but I’m from the US luge team," he said, and instantly the man said, "Sleds." Apparently a man in a black truck took the sleds after asking a resident what to do with them. Now the state police is urging people with any information to please call in. And Sheer is hoping for the best, assuming the sleds aren't being held "with any kind of malicious intent." Still, he doesn't like to "make mistakes like this." (More luge stories.)
