A few more details are filling in on the shooting at a Florida apartment complex that left seven people dead, including the gunman. It began about 6:30pm yesterday in Hialeah when the building's husband-and-wife managers went to talk to a tenant about a complaint against him, reports the Miami Herald. The still unidentified tenant opened fire on Italo and Samira Pisciotti, ages 78 and 68, killing them. “My mom was dead the moment that she was shot, and my dad still had a pulse when I got to him,” their daughter tells NBC Miami.
.An hours-long siege followed and didn't end until a SWAT team stormed the building about 2am. They freed two hostages, but by then, the gunman already had killed four other people in addition to the building managers. Three of the victims were found in another unit, identified as a husband and wife and their teenage daughter, Priscila Perez, reports AP. The fourth was a man who was apparently shot while walking across the street from the building. The gunman lived in the building with his mother, neighbors said. One says she heard him ask for his mother and his girlfriend at one point before the negotiations failed. (More hostages stories.)
