Officials Identify Woman Killed in DC Chase

Law enforcement officials have identified the woman killed during a high-speed chase near the White House today as 34-year-old Miriam Carey of Stamford, Conn, NBC News reports. The Daily News reports that Carey, a dental hygienist who once lived in Brooklyn, had mental health issues and was let go from a job last year. Carey "fell down some stairs and she had a pretty significant head injury," said former boss Brian Evans. While staying in a hospital she learned she was pregnant and "she seemed happy."

But when Carey was let go from Evans' practice in Hamden, Conn, "it was nothing related to any mental problems that we were in tune to," he said. "There was never insubordination per se or anything like that. But she tended to go against the grain a bit." (Click to see a video of the incident.)
