Swimming champ Ryan Lochte will be out of the pool for a while because of a hazard on land—an overexcited fan. When a teenage girl ran at the swimmer in Florida over the weekend, he caught her and he hit his knee on the curb when they both toppled over. The five-time Olympic gold medalist is expected to make a "full and speedy recovery," his publicist says.
"As a result of a freak injury caused by an unexpected fan encounter, Ryan has suffered a torn MCL and an ACL sprain and will be taking a break from training and competition," the publicist said in a statement. But this isn't the first or even the strangest injury to interrupt Lochte's swimming: In recent years, he has also suffered injuries from breakdancing, dog-walking, skateboarding, and even falling out of a tree, USA Today finds.
