Turns out the US is sending three openly gay athletes as part of its delegation to the Sochi Olympics, because Brian Boitano is also headed there and the figure skater just came out today. "I am many things: a son, a brother, and uncle, a friend, an athlete, a cook, an author, and being gay is just one part of who I am," the 1988 Olympic gold medalist said in a statement. "First and foremost I am an American athlete and I am proud to live in a country that encourages diversity, openness, and tolerance." Boitano will be part of the US delegation at the opening ceremony, USA Today reports. (More Brian Boitano stories.)
