After a miserable April in which baseball's best-paid team went 9-14 and suffered an ungodly number of pitching injuries, the formerly trigger-happy Yankees owner gave a 127-word statement both supporting his manager, Joe Torre, and making it clear that the status quo was nonetheless unacceptable. “The season is still very young, but up to now the results are clearly not acceptable to me or to Yankee fans,” wrote Steinbrenner, in a message read by his spokesperson. It added: “Let’s go out and win and bring a world championship back to New York. That’s what I want.” Read These Next Dems and Republicans team up to block Trump on Greenland.
