(AP Photo/Darren Hauck) (Associated Press) Louisville’s suffocating defense held No. 16 Marquette to a miserable 32 percent shooting as the Cardinals defeated the Golden Eagles 71-57. The loss snaps a 14-game home winning streak for Marquette, who lost their previous meeting with Louisville 71-51 while shooting only 30 percent. Edgar Sosa led the Cardinals with 18 points and Jerry Smith chipped in 12, reports the Associated Press. The win puts Louisville at 7-3 in conference play and in a tie for second with Notre Dame in the muddled Big East standings; Georgetown is on top with an 8-1 mark in the league. Marquette’s leading scorer and rebounder, Lazar Hayward, battled foul trouble all night as the Golden Eagles struggled to do anything offensively.
