Gadhafi Son Handed Back to Libya

After years of very comfortable house arrest in Niger, one of Moammar Gadhafi's surviving sons is now in Libyan custody. Saadi Gadhafi, who fled Libya for Niger as his father's regime collapsed in 2011, was extradited from the West African country today and is now in a Tripoli prison, reports the AP. Officials say the Gadhafi son once known for his playboy lifestyle will be treated "in accordance with international law."

Gadhafi was wanted by Libyan authorities for his role in crushing protests against the regime and killing protesters, but unlike his brother, Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, who is being held by a militia in the west of the country, he is not wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes, CNN reports. At least three of Gadhafi's other sons were killed during the uprising.
