Entertainment | Neil Patrick Harris Neil Patrick Harris Curses Fan During Show But rep says it was all in good fun By Neal Colgrass Posted Apr 20, 2014 4:08 PM CDT Copied Neil Patrick Harris, host of Sunday's 65th Emmy Awards telecast, addresses reporters during Emmy Awards Press Preview Day, on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, in Los Angeles. (Photo by Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP) Neil Patrick Harris showed off his wicked tongue at last night's performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway by shouting at an audience member—but was it all part of the show? A female fan cried out, "I love you, Neil!" to which he responded, "I'm doing something up here, motherf--ker!" The audience responded with "rapturous applause," reports the New York Post. But a Harris rep tells Gossip Cop that the actor's barb was all part of an improvisational show that encourages audience interaction. "The response to the fan yelling was actually done in character—Neil as Hedwig, not as though Neil stopped the show to respond out of character," the rep says. Apparently, Harris first responded in character by saying, "Who's Neil? I'm not Neil," and asked co-star Lena Hall if she was Neil. Then Harris tossed off his angry line. "It was all done in good fun," says the rep. "The audience went crazy and it really was a light-hearted moment, which is not being properly contextualized in any of these various posts."
