What do you do when the police come knocking? If you're this teenage runaway, you fashion yourself an escape rope out of bed sheets and climb out a fourth-floor window. That’s what the unnamed 16-year-old did in the wee hours of Monday morning at a Colorado Hilton hotel, KRDO reports. After he eluded police, the boy and an acquaintance are believed to have gotten on a bus and out of Dodge—or in this case, Colorado Springs.

The teen was reported as a runaway from another unspecified state, reports the Colorado Springs Gazette. Police believe he ended up in the room at the Antlers Hilton after using a relative's credit card. The jig was up when that same relative called the police to report the credit-card fraud, sending officers to the hotel shortly after 1am. But the teen didn't open the room's door, forcing the police to wait for a search warrant. When they finally forced their way in, they found nothing but his makeshift rope. A warrant is out for the teen’s arrest for suspicion of identity theft. (More weird crimes stories.)
