Police have released transcripts and audio from their interviews with would-be school shooter John David LaDue, in which the 17-year-old calmly explains his plans and motivations—or, more accurately, his lack of motivations. "I was not bullied at all," LaDue says, in a tape obtained by CNN. "I have good parents, I live in a good town. I think I'm just really mentally ill. And no one's noticed. I've been trying to hide it."

LaDue says he planned to start his killing spree by shooting his parents. "They did nothing wrong," he says, "I just wanted as many victims as possible." Then after killing as many of his classmates as possible, he would let SWAT forces kill him. "I didn't want to prove that I was a wuss like all the other recent shooters, like Adam Lanza who shot himself," he explained. He also derided Lanza's choice of victims, saying, "I didn't want to be known as a guy who would go to a place with a bunch of kindergarteners." By contrast, he idolized the Columbine shooters.
