Excellent free-throw shooting and a balanced scoring attack led Wisconsin to a nine-point home win over Tubby Smith's Minnesota squad, reports the AP. The 15th-ranked Badgers were led by Marcus Landry with 12 points, and had four other players score 11 each while holding the Golden Gophers to 33% shooting, including a paltry 25% from two-point range.
In fact, it wasn't pretty for either side, but Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan won't complain. "You just have to keep grinding and that's exactly the type of game this was," he said. Minnesota got within 52-48 in the second half, but Wisconsin got nine straight from the line to pull away. Dan Coleman and Lawrence Westbrook led UM with 10 apiece. (More Big Ten Conference stories.)
