Soccer Biter's Ban Upheld—Sort Of

So much for that appeal: The Court of Arbitration for Sport has upheld Luis Suarez's four-month ban after the Uruguay star famously bit another player at this year's World Cup, noting the penalty is "generally proportionate to the offense committed," the AP reports. He also must sit out of Uruguay's next eight games. But there's a silver lining for Suarez, in that CAS deemed FIFA's decision to ban Suarez from all soccer activity "excessive." As a result, it will allow him to train with and promote his club, Barcelona, which Sky News reports paid $125 million for the player after his punishment was announced. The ban expires Oct. 26.
