Sixers trounce them by 40 in Philly, after Cheeks gets contract extension

Philadelphia coach Maurice Cheeks received a one-year contract extension, then a commanding 124-84 victory over defense-averse New York. The 76ers started hot and didn't look back, leading 37-17 after the first quarter and 100-54 near the end of the third. Their 14 first-half steals were a franchise record.

Jamal Crawford was tops among the Knicks with 14 points; Willie Green led six Sixers in double digits with 21. Rookie forward Thaddeus Young added 20 off the bench. Although the game was in Philadelphia, scattered fans sounded the "Fire Isiah" chant that has plagued Knicks coach and GM Isiah Thomas throughout his New York tenure.
