A Georgia man trying to get four duty-free bottles of supposed rum through customs at JFK airport had the misfortune of running into agents who know what rum looks like. When this batch seemed to be a little too syrupy, agents opened the bottles and detected a chemical odor, reports the Smoking Gun. Tests then revealed the "rum" to be liquid cocaine with a street value of $310,000. Wilton Sinclair, 35, who was flying in from Guyana, faces felony smuggling charges. It's hard to tell, but NJ.com appears to be the first to have landed the inevitable "rum and coke" joke. (More weird crimes stories.)
