An Idaho inmate who escaped from a county jail earlier this week has been recaptured with the help of a homeowner—and his dog. Police say that a homeowner in Wallace, Shoshone County, went to check on his barking dog yesterday evening and spotted 48-year-old Roy Bieluch, whom authorities had warned could be armed and dangerous, KXLY reports. The homeowner ordered Bieluch to stay where he was and opened fire with a handgun when the inmate moved toward him. Bieluch was apprehended and taken to a medical center with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police say the inmate, who was awaiting trial on charges including burglary and is believed to have links to the Aryan Nations, walked out of the lightly staffed jail's front door Tuesday night after making his way through a crawlspace, reports KHQ. Bieluch's fiancé was arrested on Wednesday on charges of helping him after the escape and is now being held in the same jail he broke out of, an earlier KXLY story reported. (More Idaho stories.)
