Alison Parker and Adam Ward, gunned down on live TV this morning, leave behind two mourning partners—both of whom work at the same station where Parker was a reporter and Ward a cameraman, Virginia's WDBJ7. "We didn't share this publicly, but @AParkerWDBJ7 and I were very much in love. We just moved in together. I am numb," wrote anchor Chris Hurst on Twitter. "We were together almost nine months. It was the best nine months of our lives. We wanted to get married. We just celebrated her 24th birthday ... She was the most radiant woman I ever met. And for some reason she loved me back. She loved her family, her parents and her brother." And, he added, "She worked with Adam every day. They were a team. I am heartbroken for his fiancee." Ward's fiancee, Melissa Ott, is a morning producer and was in the WDBJ7 control room watching live when the shooting happened, general manager Jeff Marks tells CNN. The Daily Beast reports that it was Ott's last day at the station; a celebration for her had been planned, for which Parker reportedly brought balloons and cake. "[Ott] was moving on to a station in Charlotte," Marks says, and Ward was said to be planning on following her. The journalist who spoke to CNN said that Ward recently told her, "I'm going to get out of news. I think I'm going to do something else." That journalist may have been anchor Kimberly McBroom, who is also quoted by the New York Post as saying the two were engaged. "There were a lot of good things happening for Adam and Alison," she says. "They were special people, they’d brighten up a room every morning." (More shooting stories.)
