After days of searching, New York City police divers pulled what they think is the gun used in the murder of Officer Randolph Holder from the Harlem River early Sunday, reports the New York Post. If confirmed as the murder weapon, the find would settle what the New York Times calls "the main open question" in the case against Tyrone Howard, who is accused of fatally shooting Holder in the head during a shootout over a stolen bicycle on Tuesday. "We have the perp’s backpack. It’s got [at least one bullet] inside with markings that match the spent shell casings, which will likely match to the gun," a law enforcement source tells the Post; any DNA evidence or fingerprints are expected to be too degraded to make an identification.
